Media 1st post

When I began Media I thought it would be very practical and at some points technical but I had no specific perceptions because of being completely new to the subject. However, people who were in the middle of the course told me it was good and would fit in well with the other A levels I am taking. I think my perceptions have changed because I have found it is a lot of theory but useful theory and about things I want to learn about such as TV drama which makes it interesting so at the moment they have changed for the better. The fact we have been learning about TV drama which is something I enjoy a lot means I can write well and actually get engaged in what I am being taught about. There has not been a lot of written work but the small amount we have done has been useful to re-itterate the technical terms I have learnt so far. So far in media I understand everything and hopefully I continue this way. I think we went at a pace where I could understand the work with examples so therefore I do not need to do things again at this point. The Casino Royale DVD was very interesting as I did not realise how much time and effort goes into the sound of a movie. It helped me understand there is a lot more to it than just talking and recording. I did not really understand Gone Fishing as we only watched it once so possibly if I watch it a few more times I might be able to understand the concept and consequently appreciate it more.
